We’ve used them to increase the fleet size and grow the business, because they are suited to a lot of the jobs. They’re shorter and more compact, which makes them safer when tipping because they’re not as high.
Our 6x4s are quite heavy, so we’re getting a bit over 28-tonnes payload from the trailers, but that’s still a lot compared to the 19 to 20 tonnes we get from an 8-wheeler. They’re a lot more productive and you’ve still got one driver and the same sort of mpg, which makes them really cost effective.
